At the Retreat

Perhaps you have no expectations…Maybe you expect to get answers. You might feel some fear and anxiety… Come with and open mind and heart. You won't be disappointed.

At the retreat, you'll experience joint meetings with both AA and Al-Anon women called Roundtables. These meetings will be similar to the ones you normally attend in AA or Al-Anon.  These meetings will be co-facilitated by an AA and Al-Anon woman.  At the Roundtable, each woman will share her experience, strength and hope from the viewpoint of an alcoholic or Al-Anon woman in recovery. Through this process, you will have the opportunity to see the similarities between yourself and your sisters in recovery.

There will be a speaker from each program who will share her experience, strength, and hope along their road of recovery.

In addition to the speakers and meetings, there will be many opportunities for fun and recreation, which may include:

  • A canoe ride on the lake, or a hike in the woods,

  • Bring your favorite treats to share in the "Snack Shack"

  • Participate in craft projects and games

  • Relax by the bonfire for fun conversation & company

  • Engage in the Angel Walk and/or Letting Go Ceremony and see how the experience affects your life.

S.M., AA

“Initially, I wasn't interested in meeting women from the Al-Anon program. I was afraid they'd project their anger at their own alcoholic in their life upon me.  But after this weekend, I realized we're all searching for the same serenity in recovery."

S.B., Al-Anon

"Yeah, right. I'm supposed to forgive the alcoholic?  I'm not the problem. The alcoholic is! Or, so I thought. After I listened to so many women in AA share their feelings, pain, and struggles, I realized I felt the same way. They found healing with the 12 Steps and 12 Traditions, and so have I.  It was helpful to connect with women in AA on a heart level. We suffer from the same family disease of alcoholism and we can help each other recover."

H.R., AA & Al-Anon

"I was afraid to go to Idaho W2W at first. I didn't know anybody at the retreat, but my sponsor suggested I register and be open for the experience. By the end of the retreat, I made many friends in both programs, and now have new sisters in recovery.  I also realized that I need both AA and Al-Anon programs in my life."
